Choosing the Best Promotional Product

Visitors: 295

Sometimes, choosing the best promotional product can be overwhelming. There are a plethora of websites with hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions, of promotional products to sift through. So where do you start? First, identify your specific needs. Second, determine what kind of product will most likely meet your marketing or gift needs. Once you have done that, find a website that is uncluttered and easy to navigate through; this will minimize your frustration and the time spent searching through hundreds of thousands of useless and cheaply made products. Also, look for a company that offers free design assistance and doesn’t charge set-up fees. This will save you a great deal of money that could be spent on the product itself.

Next, plan ahead. Do not wait until the last minute to order your product. Custom products take longer in production than the average consumer realizes. It can take up to a week in production for pens and pencils, and another 4 to 5 days for shipping depending on where you are located. Planning ahead can save you a great deal of time, money and frustration.

Most importantly, make sure you see a proof before you make payment and agree to order the product. Your proof should include a picture or outline of the product customized to your specifications. Look at your proof closely and check for any typos, misprint of information, correct colors and proper placement and redesign of logos, if applicable. Make sure you are completely satisfied with your product and the artwork involved. Once you approve your proof and the order is sent to production, most companies do not take responsibility for any errors or mistakes that you approved, so look over it closely.

Lastly, although ordering from online companies has become standard, don’t be afraid to call and ask if they are a member of their local chamber of commerce. The company you’re ordering from should have no problem making you feel comfortable with the purchase you are about to make.

Remember, an important aspect in selecting a good promotional product is the ability to customize the product (see www.yourlogoworks.com for some great examples). Also remember to look for ways to save money on your order by selecting companies with free design assistance and no set-up fees. Make sure to communicate your needs and desires and you’ll have a great promotional product that’s sure to please.
