When trying new software on your cell phone the first concern which pops into the mind is the compatibility issues. There are thousands of software available for the phone but for BlackBerry users few comes with the dreaded 507 error with never ending reboot cycle.

Thankfully, RIM built a safeguard for such situations into versions 4.6 and 4.7 of its BlackBerry handheld OS: Safe Mode. BlackBerry Safe Mode is “designed to allow you to troubleshoot or remove any unwanted applications, ” according to RIM.

How to Access the Safe Mode in your BlackBerry phone

  • First you need to remove your BlackBerry battery to perform a hard reset.
  • After reinserting the battery, the notification LED of BlackBerry glows red for few seconds.
  • Just as the Red notification LED dims, hold the BlackBerry Escape key situated right of the trackball until a dialogue box appears telling that the device is now in Safe Mode
  • This Safe Mode process will take few minutes and once the Safe Mode is activated, the installed third party apps can be removed.
  • To remove the app simply locate the app icon on the icons screen when found, select the app and tap on the menu key to choose delete from the options.

To turn off the Safe Mode simply reinsert the BlackBerry battery once again.
