Opthome is Just a Marketing Come On

The new site opthome.com does not and cannot live up to their claims that they can sort out the good from the bad Real Estate Agents and make this recommendation. It would be nice if they did but they do not.

Opthome is simply another way to direct traffic to agents and to show listings.

The idea of a service that provides background information and past history of Real Estate Agents, something similar to what the carfax.com site does on vehicles would be great. But this site does not. Does it provide critical information such as a report showing what disciplinary action the state has taken against a particular agent or broker? What past action has been imposed by The Multiple Listing Service to a Realtor for a violation of their ethics. Is the agent on any sex offender lists? What about Past criminal charges and the like?

How does opthome decide what constitutes a good agent? Is a highly rated agent perhaps one that works full time with Real Estate as his or her primary career. Is an agent judged towards the top if they do a high dollar volume of business or maybe they have a certain advertising presence.
I know of an agent that would score at the top end in all these categories but yet is extremely despised and hated by his fellow agents. For years he has created all sorts of bad blood by playing all the games that a poor Broker can. Other Agents do not want to even attempt to co-broke with this man and go to all sorts of extremes to avoid him.

Just how is the average homeowner to know this insider information? Not by an opthome report I assure you.

This good Realtor bad Realtor issue is one of the toughest matters that a Seller faces. How are they to know? There is an old saying" that a good Surgeon is still a stranger with a sharp knife" and a good Realtor is usually a stranger responsible for your largest asset.

Avoid the confusion and huge expense and do not list your property for sale with an agent at all. Save the money and go online to sell it. Cooperate with Buyer's Agents and avoid the conflict or concern of who is or is not a good agent. It is quite actually simple to judge a great agent. A great agent is one that brings a Seller a good Buyer.
