Marketing isn't just about packaging a product. Part of it involves advertising. If you want people to know about your product, you have to put up ads and to help you get started, here are a few things to guide you along the way.

First, your ad should have a catchy line. For instance, “lose weight in 10 days!" Just make sure that if you put an ad like that you are able to deliver. If you fail to do so, you can be accused of false advertising and nobody will ever want to hear from you again.

The same goes for ads that you decide to email to friends and family members. This is because people who see a strange ad will more likely delete it with out evening opening this for fear of becoming a victim of a computer virus. These ads should also be direct to the point so this is simple for the reader to understand.

Instead of sending out these ads randomly, you can send this directly to your target audience by doing some research and getting leads from a trusted source. Your company may have this already in their database which you can assess or you buy leads from someone else. This saves you time so you can focus only on people who are interested.

The subject of the ad must sell two things. First, is who you are and second the product. This is because you have to sound credible and the product you are selling must really be beneficial to those who will use it. It is also best to use adjectives as this really gets the reader's attention.

Before you post your ad in whatever medium you choose, make sure that this is proofread. You should try to put yourself in the shoes of the customer and ask if this is appealing or not. If it is not, then there is still time to make revisions. Remember that perfection is the key here to get positive feedback.

If you are not sure about what others will think about the ad, then have someone look at it and be open to what they have to say.

For those who can't afford to put ads in the newspaper or in billboards, you can still do so by advertising this online or by having stickers or flyers made. This just goes to show that there are still other ways to establish a presence in the market despite limitation in the budget.

It would be better if you had your own website as well so that if people click on your online ad, they will be diverted to your site and check the products you have. If you don't know how to make one, hire someone who can do this for you. Just make sure this is updated regularly so there is always something new to offer to the customer.

Now that you have read the dummies guide to marketing, you are sure to get a certain amount of traffic for your business. Just be sure to give the customer what you promised so they will spread the word to others who may also need it which in turn adds to the sales revenue you get at the end of the month.
