When you are first building an online business you may find it difficult to build your list. There are several ways you can build your list so that you have enough clients to market your products and services to. Each method builds on the foundation you have already established so that finally your client list will grow exponentially.
In the beginning you will want to start a blog. By posting to the blog several times a week in the very beginning that will enable you to build up some content that is directly related to your niche market. Be sure to obtain a domain name for your blog that has at least one or two of the keywords that are ones your potential clients will search for. Place a subscription or opt in form on your blog so that visitors will have the opportunity to subscribe.
Next you will want to start writing articles that are content rich. Make a list of as many keywords as possible and use them in your articles. Give people valuable information that will help them with their business by writing in the area of your expertise. Writing articles shows that you are an expert in your field and that you want to share this expertise with others. At the end of each article you will have the opportunity to give information about yourself and give a link back to your website and blog. Give your readers an opportunity to download a free report or other information so that they will be motivated to sign up on your list.
Finally, use offline methods for building your list of clients. Put your website and blog name on your business cards, stationery, and flyers. If you advertise in a newspaper or magazine give out your contact information so that people can sign up right away.
By following these steps you will be able to grow your list significantly over a short period of time. Ask your clients to refer you to others, and offer them an incentive for doing so. Remember that whatever business you are in you are really in the marketing business.
