Get Your Staff On The Road - As Safe Drivers!

Visitors: 274

Employers looking for something valuable to add to their employee benefits package may do well to consider driving lessons, with the emphasis on safe driving; not just passing the test!

Learning to drive is not just about reaching the level needed to pass the driving test. It is about becoming a safe, confident driver with good skills and experience.

The test is actually the easy part of learning to drive. It is what comes next: driving alone without someone else's feet hovering over the dual control pedals and coming up against new experiences like motorways that are harder.

Statistics show new drivers are more likely to have an accident within the first two years of passing their test due to a lack of skills and experience.

That is why the overall aim should never be to just pass a test. Choose a driving school that is committed to introducing your employees to as many different driving situations and conditions as possible with instructors dedicated to building confidence and making pupils aware of all types of hazards.

Once they have passed their test, consider offering staff the chance to gain a wider range of driving skills immediately by taking a Pass Plus course. This will allow them to:

  • Safely gain more driving experience

  • Improve existing driving skills

  • Acquire new driving skills

  • Reduce the risk of being involved in an accident

  • Obtain a discount on their car insurance

For employees who have already passed their test, why not offer them a motorway driving course? Driving on high-speed multi-lane roads is a skill in itself and many qualified drivers will not venture onto motorways because they lack the confidence of driving in a completely different environment to what they were used to whilst learning to drive.

Your employees are an asset to your business. So when planning your employee benefits package, consider the safety and wellbeing of your staff. Being able to drive could enhance their ability to carry out their job tasks; and becoming safe, confident drivers will give them a highly valuable life skill.
