Internships a Great Way to Add to Your Resume

Visitors: 298

We often see adverts like this in the local press, shop windows and free classified ads. Often you assume that such a sign will be offering a low paid, or unpaid job that would not be worth looking into any further. As we all come to terms with the struggle of the current world financial blows, it could in fact be the best way to start looking for that extra bit of motivation, pay and a way of boosting your own credentials on your resume through work experience and internships.

Internships are a fantastic way in which to present you as a forward thinking and highly motivated individual. In the employment market there are sometimes hundreds of people applying for one position within a company and anything that you can do to make you stand out is a bonus. One way in which you can get that edge is to take on unpaid work in the form of an internship at a company that you either want to work for specifically in the future, or is within the type of industry that you wish to work in as a permanent career.

Find out which firms belong within the industry that you wish to make a career in, make a list of them and go out of your way to find the right contacts within the each company. Next step is to ensure that your resume is up to scratch and completely accurate, including references so the companies can check out your credentials. By taking on internships you are displaying an aptitude for both hard work and as a person who seeks out knowledge in order to better themselves. You are also proving that you are willing to work from the bottom up in order to get your career moving forward, at a time when many are finding work hard to come by in any form.

By answering that post for ‘help wanted Dallas’ you could be taking that first step on the employment ranks within an industry that you wish to work within. The worst case scenario would be either some extra money to add to your own employment, that work to get you off the unemployed heap that many find themselves on at the moment or just an extra addition to your references and resume at a time when we are all in dire need of finding that extra per cent that could beat your fellow applicant to a job. The desire to work is often an attribute that employers look for and by answering such an advert you are displaying just that, whether an internships program or a low paid job.

Kristy runs a workshop for students, advising on all sorts of ways to boost a person's resume through work placem0ents, internships , both paid and unpaid, and supplying networking opportunities. After years of successfully building up his own graduate placement business, Kristy has the contacts in place to provide students of his workshop with the very best options moving forward during a difficult period economically for all of us. For those answering a call to Help Wanted Dallas in ads, it could be the best way to get that work experience that gives you the edge.
