There are numerous ways in which executive recruitment companies and sales and marketing staffing consultants work with hiring clients looking to outsource their human resource recruitment to a third-party, independent staffing and recruitment organization.

First, many recruitment agencies work under one of two staffing and executive recruitment fee structures and these methods of building hiring clients are typically referred to as in the headhunter industry as contingency versus retained executive recruitment and staffing services.

What is the difference between the two staffing fee arrangements in which employment agencies typically do business under?

Contingency Recruitment Services–contingency recruitment contracts are much different than retained search fees as the hiring party only pays the recruiting agency if the company ends up hiring or bringing on as a consultant a job seeker who was directly referred to by the hiring party from the recruiting agency that was given permission to go out and represent that organization on the open job market.

The fee structure for contingency recruitment services varies with staffing agency, level recruiting services and industry vertical that the jobseekers are in. However, the typical fee that a contingency staffing recruitment company will receive from successful job placement of an employee is around 12 1/2 to 30% of that employment job seeker's total compensation that they derive from the first year of being employed by the company or, in temporary job staffing recruitment solutions, this fee structure is prorated, then if the employee happens to get hired full-time within that year, the recruiting firm gets to get a fee that is an additional 20% on top of the prorated part-time contingency recruitment fee that they were receiving on an hourly basis.

If there is no fee to have an executive search firm find your company employees as opposed to a retained search and staffing contract, why would anyone choose to hire a retained recruiter? First, we will quickly to find a retained recruiter as a staffing professional and executive search company that takes an upfront fee from the hiring party to begin its search for the proper employees for the company that set out to have their human resource staffing division outsourced to a third party. Regardless of whether or not this contract comes to fruition, retain staffing contracts usually require the hiring company to pay the card was of how successful the outcome. However, retained executive search companies are in business strictly because they could find better employees than most contingency recruiting firms within their area and typically these headhunters have a very strict expertise as to their staffing process and, because they can obtain employees for their hiring client that other staffing agencies could not produce, the best retained recruiters are able to work off contracts that are highly lucrative and highly guaranteed to the recruitment consultancy firm.
