What are the rules on job interview etiquette? Many people get confused about what they should ask or what clothes you can wear so I thought I would details some answers for you!
Appearance - Dress professionally for an interview. Make sure they fit you well and are clean. Try on the clothes you intend to wear before the day of you interview to make sure.
Posture: Don't slouch in your chair- stand or sit confidently.
Handshake - Handshakes are very important - a firm (not vice-like) handshake with meeting eye contact is a very good start to your interview.
Smile - Remember to smile in the interview! Keep it relaxed with relaxed eye contact.
Manners and Etiquette
Turn up early! This creates a good impression straight away! It also gives you leeway if things go wrong getting to the interview.
Remember the interview starts as soon you are through the door. Don't be cheeky or rude to the receptionist - she could be asked regarding the candidates conduct.
Research the company before you go - this shows that you are eager to work for the company.
Remember this is a job interview - remember this despite how much rapport you feel with the interviewer.
Let the interviewer take the lead - don't try to take over.
Remember if are not going to turn up for the interview show some respect and let them know before hand. This is only fair.
Can you ask about the salary you may receive?
Don't ask how much the salary of the job will be. You should have checked before the job interview. Don't bring this subject up unless the interviewer asks regarding this.
What can you ask regarding the benefits package on offer?
Again not a good idea to ask regarding any benefits the jobs has. This should all be carried out before the interview. If this information is not given to you phone the HR department as they should be able to tell you.
