Are you ready to make it in the world of project management? If you have found a number of different vacancies you want to apply to, you will, of course, need to make sure that your CV is on point. There is nothing that can make you get rejected quicker than a badly worded and formatted CV. Below, we will provide you with some tips to help you get started.

1. Show enthusiasm – Showing enthusiasm for the role is important. As a project manager, you will need to motivate your team members and make sure they are just as enthusiastic. By letting your project wins and your attitude shine through, you can pretty much guarantee an interview. Include the project accomplishments that you are the most proud of. By doing this, not only will you stand out from other people that have applied for the job, but you will also help the employer to see that they are going to get a lot more when they hire you.

2. Play to your own strengths – Don’t try to be someone that you are not, brand who you are. There is only one of you, and this is your strength. Don’t try to be the person you believe is going to be the best for the job – play to your own strengths. Simply cloning another CV will not do you any justice, plus you will soon get found out if you are pretending to be something you are not.

3. Your leadership traits – Of course, one of the most important things when it comes to being an effective project manager is being a successful leader. This is why you need to make sure you clearly articulate the specific leadership traits that you will bring to the table. A lot of people make the mistake of being bogged down with too much of the technical aspects. It is important to remember that this is a leadership position. This is why you need to spend your time displaying how well you can guide teams, mentor, lead projects, and work with stakeholders and teams. Focus on the leadership activities you have been effective in previously, as well as your main traits.

4. Customise your resume for each job – Sending a generic CV is not advised. You need to customise your CV to suit every job. This shows that you are passionate about the project in question, and that you have gone the extra mile.

5. Project management training – Last but not least, we have project management training . There are a lot of credible project management courses on offer today. If you are yet to take any of these courses, ask yourself whether it would be better to do so before you embark on your job search? A lot of people have been in leadership roles, and this is obviously great, but having knowledge about project management strategies, techniques, and approaches can really prove to be beneficial. Plus, having a specific project management qualification on your CV will look very impressive to say the least.
