How Can a Local Business Promote Itself?

A few years ago starting a local business was not at all an easy task. To go against the big guns or at least to stand at the same level with them required exceptional investment of time, money and hard work. The well established brands enjoyed a massive advantage over the local upcoming ones. That is not the case now, the advent of social media has changed it all. Newer platforms have given easy, reliable, relatively cheaper sources of local business promotion, which can give the local companies a fine head start into their ventures.

The best and the easiest way to promote is by creating accounts across all the social media platforms like Google, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn etc. With Google's one account for all Google policy, you can promote yourself through Google+, YouTube, Gmail (email marketing) etc with just a single account. You can list your business on Yahoo! Directory. A dedicated website is a must because it is the most effective way to promote your business through Search Engine Optimization (SEO). By deciding keywords and writing articles around them, you can achieve back links which helps your website get a higher page rank, directly adding to promotion. It also a good idea to list your business on Google maps because the more ubiquitous the name of your brand is the more effective the promotion is. You can also give ads on Google which are pay per click. Google SEO was the best source of online promotion until Facebook entered the party.

Use the Power of Social Media

Started as merely a social media website, Facebook has turned into a major platform for local business promotion, so much that debates are held that Social Media Optimization (SMO) is better than SEO. Facebook has a dedicated number of people and you can apply ads to promote your page according to your demographics and target audience. If you can hire a good graphic designer and copywriter you can create engaging posts on your Facebook page which is a great way to get organic likes. Before you do that, it is important that you set a Unique Selling Point (USP) for your product so you can play around that when you are creating posts. This will help you create a brand value. There is an option to use coupons from Groupon etc to advertise on websites, blogs or forums which receive a considerably high traffic. These websites already have a huge traffic inflow which might include up to thousands of daily visitors. Making yourself visible there will make a drastic improvement in the traffic towards your website.

There are other creative ways you can promote your business through. For example you can hold competitions where you give away your product. Make sure they are engaging and gives people the idea of what benefit the product would give them and why having it for free means they are really lucky. This is sure to bring in a lot of people because everyone loves freebies. Promoting a local business is a lengthy task, but if you do it the right way, your business is set for a boon. There are so many top agency in this field like WebNet Creatives, Social Media Marketing Companies etc.
