These types of signs are usually found in commercial spaces and small shops. If the owner wants to keep the neon signs clearly visible and looking bright it is important that they keep them clean. Neon signs are the ones that light up so they look flashy and attract customer’s attention. They are some of the best essentials for reaching and attracting new customers. In the advertising industry, these signs, using symbols, words, or combination of both, are the best way to catch the eye of a new customer. Neon signs are delicate and can easily be broken so it is important that when cleaning them you are doing it carefully and the right way.

Dusting

Neon signs can get dusty and if not dusted it will soon forma thick layer on the sign that can make it difficult to clean off. If the neon signs are dusty they will not look very bright and the dust can hinder people from seeing them from a distance. You should use a brush that is dry to dust the neon signs on a regular basis which could be one a week or even daily. It depends on how dusty they get. Before dusting switch off the neon signs and unplug them. You should use a brush with long soft nylon bristles. Slowly, wipe the dust gently from every area of the neon sign. Use old socks if you do not have a brush.

Cleaning stains

When neon signs have light stains it is easy to remove them using a soft lint free cloth slightly damp using just water. If the stains are not coming off using plain water you can use a cleaning solution that is ammonia based. It is a good idea to use commercial cleaners formulated especially for cleaning tough stains off neon signs. You can also use these specially formulated cleaners to clean stains on neon signs that are coated using paint. Make sure that the cloth you are using is just dampened with the cleaner. If you are trying to clean stains from a painted coated neon sign you should do a small area of the painted area to make sure that the paint does not come loose and start to peel off because the cleaner is too strong.

Cleaning tips

Many neon signs have a lot of wires so to help avoid breaking any wires, when cleaning hold the wires back gently with a small sticks made from wood. Before using a damp cloth to clean the neon signs always check for any hairline cracks. If there are any you should have it repaired by a professional. As you are dusting periodically shake the sock or brush off to get rid of accumulated dust.
