On the other hand, phase separation has expanded its market share in recent years as more desired and homogeneous configuration of the films can be obtained through this technique. The report has further segmented the phase configuration segment into polymerization-induced phase separation (PIPS), solvent-induced phase separation (SIPS), thermally-induced phase separation (TIPS).

In terms of product, the PDLC market is segregated into self-adhesive PDLC film and laminated PDLC film. Encapsulation process is used to manufacture laminated PDLC film. This type of film is popularly used for new construction and renovation projects. Self-adhesive film, on the other hand, is employed for retrofit application and can be easily applied to the respective surface. According to the report, the demand for self-adhesive films is anticipated to increase as they are capable of changing their transparency in response to an electrical impulse.
