Corporate Events Management in the Middle East and Africa

Visitors: 301

Companies both visiting and based in the Middle East and Africa regularly host corporate events at central locations. We at Holiday Inn are ideal for this purpose, as we offer leisure and accommodation alongside conference rooms and business centres. With meetings taking place in 25 city venues, in areas like Dubai, Nairobi, Kuwait and Cairo, corporate event management is just one of many things we arrange each week in our hotels.

How does corporate event management in the Middle East and Africa differ?

People have a mistaken idea about companies outside Europe and America – but really they’re not that different. Evidently, cultural values have to be taken into account, but we must remember that these days commerce is a global process. Numerous British people live and work in cities like Dubai, Amman and Accra, for example. Although oil is an important factor in this, tourism, finance and the retail sector also have a role to play.

With more companies than ever opening branches in Middle Eastern and African cities, corporate event management is a necessary part of company life. However, it can be an alien and unsettling experience even for those who have lived here all their lives. That’s why choosing us at Holiday Inn to host the event is such a good idea; not only are we a familiar face to those a long way from home, we’re also well versed in local tradition too.

With the Middle East and many parts of Africa predominantly Muslim, it’s important corporate event management organisers don’t overstep the boundaries and upset their staff, local residents – or the authorities. Delegates have been arrested in the Middle East for indulging in antics that at home would be seen as puerile, but in the Arab Emirates were seen as deeply offensive.

That being said, many Middle Eastern, and the majority of African, cities have a relaxed attitude to alcohol and dress code. It depends on the city you’re in, which is why it’s best to let our corporate event management staff steer you in the right direction.

What does corporate event management mean, exactly?

Corporate event management means different things to different people. For some, it’s a financial training course in air-conditioned offices in Dubai, for others it’s a corporate hospitality outing to one of the numerous wildlife reserves surrounding our Holiday Inn hotel in Nairobi. Golfing trips are also popular – and there are plenty of courses to choose from at cities like Johannesburg, Al Khobar and Accra.

Corporate hospitality can also start at home – after all, what could be more glamorous than a gala evening next to a luxury pool, or an award-giving ceremony in a glamorous Dubai ballroom? We at Holiday Inn can provide both.

Corporate events are especially popular in the Red Sea coastal resorts like Sufaga. Here, delegates have the benefit of a private beach and marina, as well as several watersports schools where activities can be arranged. Similar facilities exist at our sumptuous Dead Sea resort of Sweimeh.

With us at Holiday Inn, corporate event management can be anything you want it to be.
