Marketing Ideas for Restaurants

I don’t know about you, but the sound of promotion gets me excited. Coming up with promotional ideas is fun. You have a restaurant, and you want to get more people into your restaurant to try your food and concept. Once they do, they will be hooked. Yes, they will enjoy the food and the atmosphere that you provide them. This is what you’ve planned for right? But they won’t come in until they hear about you. So how can you be heard?

Well, don’t fret, there are many ways. Some work, and some don’t. Some are expensive and some are cheap. Fortunately for you, the ones that work do not always correspond to the ones that are expensive!

Here are some thoughts to help promote your restaurant:

  1. Don't Let Them Come to You – Go To Them!
    You have to be a walking billboard. No matter where you go, and what you do, tell people about your enterprise. Don’t worry, those listening will be excited to know about the great place you have created for them. Tell everybody you can when you get a chance. Random people in the supermarket, down time during your oil change, standing in line at the bank. New places to eat invoke excitement in people, especially those that are hearing about it from the owner. Get rid of your modesty, and brag about the experience that you have created for them.

  2. Get in with the City
    Every city has a chamber of commerce. Make sure to get in tight with those people that frequent the meetings. The great thing about people is that they have to eat. Those people that you meet at commerce meetings eat, and they also have some power as business owners. If you can convince them to eat at your restaurant, they will enjoy it, tell their customers, associates and employees. Word of mouth rocks!

  3. Online Ordering
    Although still fairly new to the world of restaurants, getting an online ordering website really helps to promote your restaurant. Half of people that have surf the internet have surf it for food. Your restaurant should be a part of this! Corporate people are in front of a computer many hours of the day, and when they get hungry, they will search for you! Make sure you are ready to accept orders from them. There are a few companies out there that can offer this service for your restaurant, but make sure they are reputable, and can offer you your own website with a personal web domain. Those with a straight subscription fee make the best sense when you plan to grow your online business big. The easiest way to find one is to search on google. Make sure to talk to a few different companies to make sure you get what you want.

Remember, to make and keep your restaurant successful, keep on marketing. Do whatever you can to get more customers into your restaurant. You’ve built it right, they will come back again and again once you get them in.
