Sales Results – Are Your Actions Merely Producing Rotten Eggs?

I read a quote the other day that made so much sense to me because I see how it relates to a lot of sales people that I have met in my lifetime. The quote is from Anon and it says this, ‘Remember, people will judge you by your actions, not your intentions. You may have a heart of gold - but so does a hard-boiled egg. ’

I have met so many people in sales who have great intentions for their clients but never really back it up with their actions. Or they tell their clients or prospects all the things that they intend to do but never follow through.

There could be many reasons why your sales are not as profitable as you would like them to be but one of the first things you should check is whether your actions represent your intentions. Don’t end up looking like an egg head because you promised to do something but didn’t follow through.

If you have a habit of doing this, you have probably discovered that it is hard to gain new clients. The reason for this is that you may tell them you will call them back at a certain time, or drop off a sample, but for some reason you don’t. This lets prospects know straight away that you are not reliable. Many prospects will go with your competitor, even if it costs more, because they want to know that they are getting reliable service.

Or maybe you don’t have a problem getting new clients; you just have a hard time keeping them. Of course, the reason why they have moved on to your competition is because you have not backed up your intentions with the correlating actions. Customers hate to be told that they are going to receive a certain level of service and then feel like they have been scammed when they don’t receive it.

So the point is this, if you want to add and retain clients, follow-up your good intentions with great actions.
