With their traffic stopping looks, convertible have had its own share of fan following. For many it has been more of a status symbols as having a convertible ensures that it announces though silently arrival of the one behind its wheel. However the popular belief that one associates with a convertible is that they are not safe and an open top does not give any comfort for the same either. However today auto makers have ensured that this feeling is not there anymore backed by state of the art technology and security features.

When one looks back at the history of convertibles, one can be surprised that it is as old as the automobile history itself. In fact the initial cars that came up at the advent of cars were open top. The 1930’s saw the advent of close end cars and in the popularity of this new version of cars, the open top cars somehow went in the oblivion. It was felt that the closed space cars were safer than the erstwhile open ended ones.

Today auto makers have made major technological advances compared to the 50’s and the 60’s and have come up with some breath taking designs which of course have ensured that the convertibles are once again flavour of the season. The convertible today comes with anti-theft systems, water repellent windows, anti skidding and pre-collision systems which have not just ensured the safety of the occupants but also have taken the popularity soaring to new heights. These come loaded even with parking sensors thereby helping drivers in parking the vehicles without any trouble at all.

Auto makers have always reserved the best designs amongst their stable for the convertibles thus this segment of buyers always had the cars carrying off as status symbols as well. This has resulted in creation of a market of its own to a level wherein one does not mind shelling out extra for owning one of these beauties and of course the auto makers aren’t complaining at all. The convertible today is also available in the luxury segment which also comes with superb interiors, leather seats and upholstery combined with a high end stereo system thereby taking the comfort and driving pleasures to new levels. Apart from being status symbols, these cars also give superior performance and state-of-the-art technology.

The convertibles always have been synonymous with flexibility as they give the driver an option of driving the vehicle with hood down if the weather is good. It’s a hit amongst the youth who love to drive it with the hood down in the lanes. In countries with pleasant weather, the demand for convertibles is higher as people like the experience of enjoying the breeze as well the scenery while driving. So, if you are planning to make your journey memorable then convertible cars is definitely going to be the best option.

With convertible cars, you can experience safety, comfort, security and prestige in driving. These cars are great to drive and look at. No wonder convertible cars are the epitome of sheer driving pleasure.
