A convertible is a car with a folding roof thereby converting a closed space car to an open-air one. Ever since its introduction, the convertibles have always maintained an aura surrounding them and almost every auto maker worth his salt have had various models of convertible in their offering. Auto enthusiasts over the years have given them various names like roadsters, drop tops, spyders, ragtops and cabriolets. The fact is that it does appeal to a breed of individuals who love to feel the breeze when they drive. In fact it won’t be wrong to say that many convertible cars have become an icon in their own right.

For many auto enthusiasts it is not just being behind the wheel of a convertible which gives them a high but a sheer look at one of these beauties can take their breath away. And auto makers have always ensured that the designs which have been developed stays just like that. With a niche market of its own, it only makes sense that every auto maker to heed in to this segment and with the buyers willing to shed in those extra bucks it’s a win-win situation for all.

To appeal to various segments of drivers, auto makers over the years have introduced various models of convertibles, however the most common factor in all being that the roof is always a part of the main body. These are non detachable and are usually stashed away either in the space behind the rear seats or in the boot. This whole operation of roof retraction/collapse in the convertible can operate either manually or automatically in a manner that the whole thing fits just right and within the space specifically created for it.

Convertible cars like all products come in various shapes and sizes and can be broadly categorized into two Hard Top and Soft Top. Whatever be the type of convertible you drive, the feel of wind kissing your hair is something that cannot be described in words. In fact in the 60’s and 70’s it was this emotion which was captured in commercials and movies. A convertible in these visual always gave that extra punch which attracted people to pay some extra attention which they might have given a miss.

One can easily say that the convertibles act as perfect style statements, however many are discouraged from buying one for themselves simply because it is a common notion that convertible is only for the high and mighty but it is not the case. Over the years there have been a lot of affordable convertible models that’s been introduces and one can always find a nice one suiting their price range. So if you have been considering buy a car, why not go for a convertible because as they say that a car is extension of your personality? So, even if you are an outgoing party animal or just a normal guy who wants to have a bit of fun, the convertible fits just like tee!

With convertible cars, you can experience safety, comfort, security and prestige in driving. These cars are great to drive and look at. No wonder convertible cars are the epitome of sheer driving pleasure.
