The photos you see in magazines of famous actors, musicians, athletes and political figures are made to stimulate feelings in the people looking at them. From excitement, to happiness, to jealousy, and every emotion in between, these vibrant and exciting people have talents and personalities that can't easily be captured on film. So how is it accomplished? Have you ever thought about about the person guiding the lens of those lovely celebrity pictures you see in magazines, then you already know the answer.

Celebrity photographers are schooled in and informed about capturing pure emotion and ability on film. These people have just as much skill as the men and women they are taking photos of, and usually work in one or two of three unique categories. Event photography is one of the most important groups in which celebrity photographers work. Motion picture premiers, social gatherings, award shows, music festivals and discreet functions are a few of the times that these photographers work. They're selected by publicists or publications for red carpet events, and frequently they are hired by the celebrities themselves for wedding receptions or birthday celebrations.

Photographs captured at parties are what you typically see in magazines. As an example, if you've ever watched fashion coverage of a red carpet event in a magazine, it was likely a paid celebrity photographer who took the pictures. And the pictures you see on new music channels from their live events? These were also taken by celebrity photographers.

Another important category that celebrity photographers work in is celebrity portraits. Many of these are the more non-public pictures you see of celebrities, much like the ones that accompany the interviews you will find in magazines. These photos are the type that are designed to find the essence of each celebrity, and to give the viewers a look into who that person really is in their personal life.

Celebrity portraits can be used on album covers, in magazines as mentioned above, and in celebrity's private portfolios. They are also designed for the same things that all people use photography for - to take a lovely family portrait. After all, celebrities are first and foremost people, and take family portraits just like everyone else.

The third group that celebrity photographers operate in is media press, which is when the photographer takes candid photos of celebrities. Everybody knows paparazzi photographers have a reputation for annoying stars, a reputation that is deserved. But not all paparazzi photographers deserve this status. Several work within their own ethical standards, and quite often only take pictures after they have permission. Sadly you won't read about these photographers too often. So the next time you see an excellent photograph of your favorite artist, actor or actress, vocalist or even politician, you now know a bit more about the expertise behind the camera. Without celebrity photographers, and their true talents, we wouldn't be offered a a glimpse into just who our favorite famous people really are.
