Jeremy Camp Contemporary Christian Music Artist - Career Profile

Visitors: 358

Through love and loss, good and bad, Jeremy Camp’s music has had one main theme that has never changed. The artist’s love of God and passion for life are evident in each song he sings. One of the most successful contemporary Christian artists around today, Camp has enjoyed many successes and shown the world that Christian music can be fun.

In 2001, Jeremy Camp married his first wife who died just a few weeks later of ovarian cancer. Rather than turn from God, as many people would have, he turned to God and poured all of his sorrow and energy into his music. In 2003, he remarried and has two beautiful little girls with his wife, Adrienne.

Jeremy Camp music’s has a definable rock element that draws fans to him. Since signing on to his record label BEC Recordings in 2002, Camp has released six albums, each better than the last. Stay, his first album, contained five singles that made it all the way to number one on the Christian music charts. Since that album, he has earned 16 number one hits, three ASCAP Songwriter of the Year awards, and five Dove awards.

Any observer making a cursory look at Camp’s career profile, will be amazed at the full extent of his accomplishments. Aside from being a successful contemporary Christian artist, Camp is also an ordained minister, a father, and a husband. Still, he manages to put his heart and soul into each lyric and draws us into his music like nobody else can.

The recent release of his newest album, Speaking Louder than Before, is aimed primarily at the youth of today. Jeremy Camp’s music has always had a clear message and a purpose but now it’s a little different. Camp wants to comfort a whole generation of confused youth. With the lack of morality and the abundance of pain and strife in today’s world, Jeremy Camp has decided to try to help the next generation make sense of it all and find a refuge for themselves.

It is clear to any fan that Jeremy Camp imparts nothing less than his best in his chords and Christian lyrics . Rather than forcing a song out, or departing from his message to make money, Camp waits patiently for the words to come to him. In fact, the first song on his most recent album was not completed until less than a month before he was due to start recording.

For Jeremy Camp, music is more about getting the word of Jesus out to his fans, rather than striving for success and fame and fortune. His music is his ministry and it’s clear that this was what God called for him to do with his life.
