Europeans found Native Americans very educated in knowledge of how people appeared on the earth, developed through the centuries and where the nature came from. Native American could clearly define characteristics divided by civilizations at different times as well as emphasize their disparities from cultures of other times. Unfortunately, the first Europeans could not pay attention to and were not really interested in learning and listening Native Americans’ legends and religions. This caused the loss of the most Native Americans roots. Of course, for both Europeans and Native Americans it was very difficult to coexist and respectfully treat each other’s so different cultures and life styles.
The case was so difficult also due to numerous cultures existed at Native Americans, and these cultures has very changeable features as well. However, Europeans could manage to indulge onto native cultures and did not leave any spare space for Native Americans. Spanish colonizers were the greatest change makers on the land of Native Americans. They brought many new things and religion, they were attracted by Native Americans vast lands rather than their cultures and religions. It was the greatest colonizers’ fault.
The richest origin and heritage of Native Americans were lost but they managed to save some core ideas and knowledge which are still a national part of American aborigines. it should be kept in mind that each tribe or cluster had its own characteristic customs, making cultural generalizations complex. It is also significant to keep in mind that many Native American customs and behaviors that created in pre-contact times are still experienced today.
The Native American story is not ending and American settlers should be more careful and respectful to it.
