How to Format Your Article

When I write my article, I like to keep it short and neat and simple. I am constantly thinking about how I am going to lead my reader so that when he gets to my bio, and I offer additional information, he is simply going to want to click through. That is the overriding thought in my mind when I am writing, how am I going to get the click?

I usually lead in with something of interest, much as I might write a sales letter. In fact, I write my article very much indeed with the same type of a formula that I might use when writing a sales letter.

I start out the article with an item of interest, something that will stir their mind and make them perhaps curious as to what I have written next.

Next, I tell them what the problem is that I am going to solve for them.

After that, I tell them the answer to their problem.

I do not use any kind of concluding paragraph. The reason I have stopped using concluding paragraphs goes back to the psychology of writing articles.

You see, people have been conditioned to think that there will be a summary paragraph or summary thoughts at the end of the article. So if I do not give that to them, they will think that they are missing something. Then they read my bio. My bio appeals to the part of them that thinks they are missing something. My bio tells them they can get more information, and I believe that they will click to satisfy their mind that they have done all they can do to get the missing information.
