Massachusetts is the standard bearer when it comes to New England states. Romantic destinations in Massachusetts offer a way to rekindle the magic in a location with tons of atmosphere.

Romantic Destinations in Massachusetts

The great state of Massachusetts is known as one of the first states in the United States, which means that it is full of historic attractions. From the Freedom Trail in Boston to the smaller towns around the state that played a significant role in the Revolutionary War, Massachusetts offers history buffs and other lovers of tradition a good spot for their next trip. All of the many historic properties and inns also means that you will be sure to find the right spot for your romantic destinations in Massachusetts.

Salem, Massachusetts is an incredibly historic town. Site of the Salem Witch Trials back in the 1790's, this area is now set up with many small museums and historic monuments that tell the stories of this black period in American history. Many people choose to come here because of the association with witchcraft and other eerie events – but Salem is also a great place for couples who are looking to spend some time together. This small New England town is very friendly to tourists, with some of the main areas of Salem being blocked to everything but foot traffic.

The Salem Inn is the most well-known of the inns and bed and breakfast establishments in the area. The Inn is made of three separate buildings, each of which were built in the 1800's. The Captain West House was built in 1834, the Curwin House was built in 1854 and the newest building, the Peabody House, was built in 1874. There are rooms available in each of these three buildings for guests to stay at. The outer facades of the buildings are not very elaborate, but the insides of each home are outfitted with beautiful Victorian furnishings.

There are 41 guest suites at the Salem House, any of which will serve well for your romantic destinations in Salem. Many of the rooms feature whirlpools (Jacuzzis), as well as fireplaces and other Victorian touches like lace curtains and baroque wallpaper. A complimentary breakfast is served each morning, with continental offerings like bagels and danish, as well as quiche. There is no restaurant on premises, so no other meals are served at the Inn. Many restaurants are within walking distance, however. The romance packages here at the Salem Inn include champagne, roses, chocolates, Salem Inn toasting flutes, and a stay in one of the honeymoon suites.

A perfect spot for any romantic destinations in Massachusetts, Salem is much more than just a historic witch hunter's attraction. This quaint New England town offers all of the best of small town life with the beauty of the area.
