Seed beads? What are they? They are a mystery to the world. It is hard to think that what is so common in the eastern part of the world is something that is coming back in trend only now – especially with the “healing powers” that it contains. In the Indian subcontinent this type of bead is called “Rudraksh” and they are sometimes used to make religious neckpieces. The fact is that most people believe that wearing them can actually keep their blood pressure in check. It is considered to have many healing benefits apart from the fact that it looks pretty rugged.

There was a time when these beads were used only to make religious bracelets or neck pieces. They were worn by the so called hippies and flaunted by the ones that were considered even Bohemian. But these days they are worn by the average fashion junkie too. One could say that it is coming mainstream and making its effects known but still it is a mystery.

Talking about seed beads, they have been produced by France for a very long time in the past. During colonization Europe used to supply these beads to the rest of the world and came to be known as the biggest supplier of seeded beads to the world. However, Japan is now the fore runner in production of these.

These are so tiny and finicky to work with that it took the original Japanese makers some hundred years to make these and it is said that even today the Japanese guard some of the steps of making seed beads. Despite the effort that goes into making them, they can be really gorgeous and this is why they can be affixed into handbags, shoes and other accessories pretty nicely. Also because of their rugged inherent nature, they are pretty susceptible to wear and tear and unlike other beads do not get damaged or removed from the stuff easily.

Talking about seed beads, one of the most powerful beads in this category is believed to be the Rudraksh. You often see it around the neck of Yoga practitioners. This type of bead is not just an ornament, it is said to have a powerful impact on your overall persona – making you charming and endearing. It is also said to alleviate the wearer off hyper tension, aggression and stress. It therefore acts as a tranquilizer. People claim that wearing it has made them a lot calmer and composed as persons. This is why people chant on these beads before meditation in the eastern culture.

When it comes to making beads, the seed beads are a league apart. They are like their own universe of jewelry beads that you can use for a myriad of purposes. There are different cuts that you must know about before buying these beads. There is the charlotte cut bead, delica beads, rocaille beads and the bugle beads. All of these beads have their own usefulness and purpose. These are different in shape. You can get a wide variety of such beads at cheap prices from Pandahall.
