The answer depends on what you view as a scam. I would say that paid survey sites come in five different categories.
There are some websites that are free to join and may misrepresent themselves as websites that will pay you for surveys when in reality they just give you a list of websites. There are also websites that say that they are just giving you a database of paid survey sites. These websites are fine in my opinion because they don’t actually “take” anything from you and provide you with a list websites that will pay you to take surveys. I would not classify these paid survey sites as a scam.
There are also websites that try to sell you a database of paid surveys. They try to lure you to purchase their “program” or whatever they call it with sales letters about how they make thousands monthly or even weekly. While I can not say that these letters are dishonest I can say that I have never heard of anybody who makes their full time income taking paid surveys outside of these types of websites. Since these websites charge you to take paid surveys and may distort the facts about how much money you may actually make I would classify these types of websites as a scam.
There are some paid survey websites that just try to get information out of you. These websites may offer you prizes or money for completing the surveys. When joining these types of site they usually want to get a lot of information out of you, as you personal questions and what not. In order to sign up there could be forms that are many pages long and require you to sign up for other offers. Some of these type of sites even sell your information and will spam your email address that you sign up with. I would classify these types of websites as a scam because they take your information and give you nothing in return and may even sell your information.
Saving the best for last there are the free paid survey websites that actually themselves pay you to take surveys. These website come in a variety of types and qualities but for the most part these are the kind that you want to sign up with. They may pay you in points that are redeemable for a variety of goods and prizes or pay in cash. Be careful about joining websites that have extremely high minimum payouts or have a very limited amount of stuff that you can use your points for. Overall this kind are the best type of paid survey sites .
