So how do you make money with an affiliate program? And, how do you get started in setting up an affiliate program? The first thing to do is be aware that not all affiliate programs are good ones; some are scams. Be sure to do your homework and check out the program very thoroughly. The programs that pay the highest commission may be very alluring, but these are not always above board, and the numbers should never be your only criteria (although, as you will see below, you don’t want to engage in a program that pays a low commission, either). Remember, too, that no matter how high the proposed commission is, you won’t earn a nickel if your visitors don’t buy their product.
In order to make money with an affiliate program, don’t work with any affiliate program offering less than about a twenty-five percent commission. It should be fairly easy to find a program offering this kind of numbers in just about any industry under the sun.
And, to make money with an affiliate program, you will want to review the sales page for the affiliate program that has caught your eye. Remember, when a visitor to your site clicks through to the affiliate site, what they find on that site has to be compelling enough for them to make a purchase or you don’t make any money. Just clicking through to the other site isn’t enough.
The person has to actually purchase the product in order for you to make money. Basically, the litmus test should be whether their sales pitch would get you excited to buy the product? The affiliate site should also have on it testimonials about their product – this is a powerful motivating force for potential buyers. All of this should help you make money with an affiliate program – just be careful and keep your eyes open!
