Adsense can seem like the ultimate business model for some people, all you have to do is get targeted traffic and then they click on your ads and you get paid, the model is simple but very difficult to build up to a level where you are making a full time income from it, it can be tough if you only have one website that makes all your income, if the search engines devalue your content then you might take a big hit in your earnings, this is why you need to be building multiple websites in different niche markets.
Building multiple authority sites in different niche markets is a lot of hard work but in my opinion it's one of the best ways to create passive income which you can get for years after you have put in all the hard work, ideally though you want to make sure that you have a diverse income stream, putting all your eggs into one basket is a bad idea so seek out some adsense alternatives and use them, this way if you have any problems with your account you can always switch them over and your sites will continue to make money.
Another problem with adsense is it's customer value, once the visitor lands on your website there only real option is to click on one of the ads so essentially you are just building someone else's business but if you don't like dealing with customers and just want passive income then building an adsense business is by the far one of the most fun and unpredictable ways to make a living and if you set everything up correctly it can be a very lucrative way to make lots of money online.
I think of an adsense business like a vending machine business, in order to make a great living you need to have lots of little machines out there and each one may only make a few dollars per day but added together you have a nice little earner, you can also replace adsense with affiliate offers or even build a list so if your adsense business goes out the window you always have a way to make money from the traffic that your site is getting.
