Everyone knows and many people have observed the appearance of cold sores. In pharmacies you can buy creams, gels and other remedies that promise to mitigate and resolve the problem quickly. However, the objective tests performed on these remedies offer modest results. Most remedies against herpes symptoms are not effective.
It's tough knowing this when you have genital herpes or even oral herpes but there really isn't much that you can do about it. The only up side is that over a quarter of the population is infected with genital herpes and 80% with oral.
Viruses are beings who can not survive outside a host and those which come in contact with human cell have a predilection for different areas. Rhinoviruses seek the nasal mucosa, where they cause the mucus. Herpes simplex type-2 has an affinity for cells of the genital mucosa, while the type 1 like the lips and mouth. Several promising drugs ease the discomfort of cold sores and even make it disappear as if by magic. In fact, no substance has the capacity to significantly influence the evolution of cold sores. At best, the most effective products may provide some relief of itching and pain.
Pharmaceutical products may contain aggressive ingredients. And everyone should consult with a doctor before initiation treatment.
