The Importance of Milk and Health Drinks

Milk, an important part of our daily routines, forms the basis of good bone health. However, once the infant stops breastfeeding, the amount of milk intake goes down drastically. There are multiple reasons behind not consuming milk on a regular basis. Some people do not like the taste, while some are simply lactose intolerant and their bodies cannot digest milk or any other milk products. Some people have a belief that they are grown-ups and therefore do not need milk as a part of their diet. But, one thing to be kept in mind is that you are never too old to reap the rewards of drinking milk regularly. Milk is undoubtedly the best health drink for kids as well as elders.

Below are the benefits that one gets with regular consumption of milk.

1) Glowing skin

We suggest you drink at least two glasses of milk per day and you'll be good. Milk can actually enhance your beauty because of the presence of lactic acid. This acts as an exfoliator and has enzymes to smooth skin. It also contains amino acids which are good for keeping the skin moisturised. The presence of antioxidants in milk makes it possible for it to be digested faster.

2) Healthy bones and teeth

Being a great source of calcium, milk is essential for healthy bones. It is not only important for young children with growing bones but also important for adults to keep their bones strong and healthy so as to prevent osteoporosis. Apart from bones, milk helps in maintaining strong teeth, prevents tooth decay and cavities.

3) Muscles

Milk is abundant in proteins that help in muscle building. A glass of milk after a workout will replenish your body with essential nutrients. It will help keep soreness at bay while replenishing the nutrient needs of your body.

4) Less stress

A glass of warm milk is a perfect way to end the day. It helps the muscles relax and soothes the nerves.

5) Healthy body

Milk is known to lower the risk of blood pressure and strokes. It helps reduce the production of cholesterol and can act as an antacid. Vitamins A and B in milk can help build good eyesight.

Clearly, the importance of milk in our daily lives cannot be ignored. However, there is a way in which we can enhance the nutrients present in milk to make it more effective. Also, the taste improves and therefore it is delicious to drink. How can you do so?
