Most people believe that a franchise is the answer for the true North American Dream, think again.

The franchise deal has got to be one of the most hyped up tactics in the history of marketing. People continue to fall for the promise of wealth hook, line & sinker over & over.

The people who make most of the money in a franchise are the franchisors (the franchise company). The system is set up that way right from the start. Don't get me wrong, it is a good system but it is set up for the franchising company to make most of the profits from day one.

The most popular franchises require an investment of $350,000 to $500,000 before an opportunity seeker sees any profit. Let's not forget about the time commitment here. In the world of business there isn't anything like a 40 hour work week. Most franchise owners work anywhere from 55 to 80 hours per week.

My brother owns a high end automotive franchise. He works 70 to 80 hours per week & rarely gets to see his children unless they drop by the garage on the weekends. He said that the profits used to be reasonable about 2 years ago until the franchisor opened 3 more identical businesses in the area. Now he has the pay the same fees & royalties but has to share the profits with three other stores.

In Ontario Canada a popular grocery chain offered franchises for some of their stores. When the franchises started pulling in record profits the grocery franchisor repossessed them. Disgruntled franchisees were forced to higher a law firm but when the case went to court the ruling was in favour of the franchisor. The franchise agreements are always in favour of the franchisor because their lawyers have put in clauses from day one to enforce that.

If you are truly interested in a franchise & feel that it would be the answers to all of your dreams then really spend a lot of time doing your research. Make sure that it is 100 percent what you are looking for but beware of all the hype. If you are fearful of trading a great deal of time for money then think again. You may just be better off with your day job.
